14th Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards 2006 – Talented Outstanding Professional
T.O.P. will be the theme of APIDA 2006. Last year, the theme of APIDA 2005 was “Let's be Pro” and this year HKIDA would like to bring out these three words Talented Outstanding Professional . APIDA aims to give industrial recognition to the Talented designers, to acquire the new talents and their Outstanding projects as well as to promote Professional standards among interior design practices. Let's wait and see the result of the first round judging on 19 October 2006 at Conrad Hotel.
The Award Presentation Ceremony and the Gala Dinner will be held on 17 November 2006 at Conrad Hotel. Members are cordially invited to join us at this annual grand event.

Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards is organized by the Interior Design
Association of Hong Kong - a member of the International Federation of Interior
Architects and Designers.
APIDA Aims
- to promote public awareness of interior design as an important
aspect of everyday life;
- to acknowledge / give industry recognition to deserving projects
and designers;
- to encourage and promote professional standards and ethics
among interior design practices operating in the region.
Profile of Entries
The awards are open to design practices & individuals who have completed
projects in the Asia/Pacific Region. This includes Taiwan,
China, Singapore,
Japan, Malaysia,
Macau, Thailand, The Philippines, Indonesia,
Korea, Australia & New Zealand,
Hong Kong and India, but excludes projects
completed in North & South America.
APIDA is given in ten (10) categories of Interior Design:

1. |
RETAIL: |
all retail-related space, from retail shops, flagship stores, supermarkets
to department stores and shopping malls, etc. |
| 2. |
OFFICE: |
all work-related space, from large corporate headquarters, to banking facilities,
and small offices. |
|
3. |
HOTEL: |
all hotel-related facilities, including main lobby, F&B outlet and one
single guest room or suite etc. |
| 4. |
CLUB / ENTERTAINMENT SPACE: |
all leisure & entertainment-related space, including resorts, golf and
country clubs to nightclubs, discos, karaoke boxes, theatres, and movie
houses. etc. |

5. |
RESIDENTIAL: |
everything from villas and large houses, to penthouses and smaller apartments
used as living space.This category must be based on an actual residential
end-user Client with actual user requirement. All entries to this category
must NOT be a Showflat . |
| 6. |
RESTAURANT / BAR: |
all food and beverage-related space, including restaurants, food courts, pubs
to bar lounges, etc. |

7. |
EXHIBITION: |
an environment used to showcase or promote a product or service other than
in a retail outlet. This can include exhibition stands, temporary exhibits
in museums, galleries and public spaces. They are generally temporary
structures and focus on attracting public attention towards the exhibited
product.. |

SHOWFLAT: |
this category differs from residential category, which is based on the marketing
strategies / requirement provided by realty developers to create an environment
(on actual building site or offsite prototype) to promote the sales of
the property. |

9. |
INSTITUTION / PUBLIC SPACE: |
this category includes schools, churches, public spaces, etc. where the interior
environment is built for a specific purpose of social activities such
as educational, social gathering & assembly ...... etc |
| 10. |
STUDENT: |
student work based on an assigned project and nominated by either the teacher
or headmaster of the institution in which the student is enrolled. |
APIDA's Criteria is 8-fold:

The Criteria is highly subject to the Chairman of the Adjudication Panel or
individual adjudicator's discretion to change or to add-in.
Adjudication
A shortlist of finalists will be selected in each category by a highly qualified
judging panel from a number of business, professional and academic fields. Adjudicators
include local judges and judges from oversea / main / and China.
Rules and Regulations
The applicant grants the IDA an irrevocable and perpetual license to deal with,
exhibit or in whatsoever way make me of the materials in respect of the reasonable
activities of the IDA including using the materials in brochures, website, CD,
DVD, books, power point presentation, exhibition, and any other appropriate
functions, occasions and printed matters; whether or not sure are commercially
sponsored, with a view to making a profit for IDA or for any other commercial
purposes.
Projects entered for the this competition must have been completed between July
2005 and August 2006 in order to qualify.
The organizers reserve the right to withhold awards not deemed to meet the required
standard in any category.
The decision reached by the Panel of Judges will be deemed final.
All materials submitted for the competition will automatically become the property
of the organizers, and may be released for publicity purposes without further
notification of clearance from the party concerned.
Submissions may be entered into one or more categories.
Each category will be reviewed in two rounds. The first round will select the
final nominees, whose projects will then be judged by an International Panel
of Judges. The winners will only be announced on the evening of the awards.
Deadlines
Deadline for APIDA 2006 entries is 30th September 2006 at 5:00pm.
Presentation and Gala Dinner
The APIDA 2006 presentation and gala dinner will be held in the
Grand Ballroom of Conrad Hotel, Admiralty, Hong Kong on 17 November,
2006 and everyone will be most welcome.
