Asia Pacific Interior Design Award (APIDA) 2009

The 17th Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards (2009) Presentation and Gala Dinner has been held on the 23rd November 2009 at HKCEC, with the participation of our honorable guests, designers and members, industry sponsors and suppliers, as well as press and media. With the best support of HKIDA, the award presentation was completed in a great spirit and environment on the night!

The first round Local Adjudication was finished on 5th October 2009 at the Mira Hotel in Hong Kong. All entries are judged by our 8 Professional Judges under 4 individual criteria, as "Originality and Innovation, Functionality, Space Planning and Aesthetics". TEN best scoring projects of each category will be choosen and the Overseas Adjudication will be go through by our 4 selected overseas Professional Judges on the next round. The finalists will soon be announced on the 16th November 2009, one week before the APIDA Presentation and Gala Dinner. Into the 17th year, APIDA continues to give recognition to outstanding interior design projects and designers, promoting professional standards and ethics among interior design practices operating in the Asia Pacific region. Open to all design professionals in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, India, Korea, Australia and New Zealand areas, APIDA is an excellent opportunity to gain worldwide recognition and public acclaim.

Objectives

• Promote the public awareness of interior design as an important aspect of everyday life;
• Acknowledge and give industry recognition to quality projects and designers;
• Encourage and promote professional standards and ethics among interior design practices operating in the region.

Categories

Adjudication

1. Projects must be completed in the Asia Pacific Region.
2. Each category will be adjudicated by a highly qualified local and international judging panel from a number of business, professional and academic fields.
3. Results will be announced only at 17th APIDA Presentation and Gala Dinner on the 23rd November 2009 at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

APIDA's Criteria is 8-fold:

1. Originality and Innovation
2. Cost Effectiveness
3. Fidelity to Client's Brief
4. Functionality
5. Creativity
6. Space Planning
7. Aesthetics
8. Environmental Concern

These Criteria are highly subject to the Chairman of the Adjudication Panel or individual adjudicator's discretion to change or to add-in.

Rules and Regulations

The applicant grants the IDA an irrevocable and perpetual license to deal with, exhibit or in whatsoever way make use of the materials in respect of the reasonable activities of the IDA including using the materials in brochures, website, DVDs, CDs, books, powerpoint presentation, exhibition, and any other appropriate functions, occasions and printed matters; whether or not sure are commercially sponsored, with a view to make profit for IDA or for any other commercial purposes.

Projects entered for this competition must have been completed between June 2008 and July 2009 in order to qualify.

The Organizers reserve the right to withhold awards not deemed to meet the required standard in any category.

The decision reached by the Panel of Judges will be deemed final.
All materials submitted for the competition will automatically become the property of the Organizers, and may be released for publicity purposes without further notification or clearance from the party concerned.

Submissions may be entered into one or more categories. Each category will be reviewed in two rounds. The first round will select TEN final nominees, whose projects will then be judged by an International Panel of Judges.
The winners will ONLY be announced on the Presentation evening of the Awards.

Entry Deadline

Entries in all categories must be received by 14th August 2009 at 5:00pm (Extended to 20th August 2009)
Any entry received after the deadline will NOT be accepted.

All entries must be submitted in TWO IDENTICAL CDs.
Each CD must contain the following files:
 - Project Synopsis (max. 100 words in English, in DOC format)
 - Floor Plan(s) (dwg/jpeg/pdf format, A4 size with max 2 pages)
 - 8 single images with NO composition of image is allowed
 - All files must be saved in 2 SEPERATE FOLDERS namely :
For Adjudication JPEG format / 2048 x 1536 pixels / 75dpi
For Publication JPEG or TIFF format / A4 size / 300dpi
Entries must comply with all APIDA submission requirements otherwise will be disqualified without further notice.
 - The names of the project, client, design firm, design team should NOT be shown in the visual images .
 - Visual images submission must NOT be more than 8 images, otherwise disqualify.
