PROFESSIONAL MEMBER
The minimum criteria for the professional practice of interior
design/interior architecture should be a combination of education
and experience. Education should have been in an accredited school
offering courses leading to a certification or a degree or diploma
in interior design/interior architecture. Experience should be with
a recognised individual or company practising interior design/interior
architecture. Any one of the following combinations is acceptable:-

Five year degree in interior design/interior
architecture plus one year of practical professional experience,
or |
| b. |
Four year degree in interior design/interior
architecture plus two years of practical professional experience,
or |
| c. |
Three years certification in interior design/interior
architecture plus three years of practical professional experience.

In exceptional circumstances, other criteria may apply provided
such individual can show proper evidence of the highest degree of
knowledge and professionalism.
This category may also include individuals who are educators in
interior design/interior architecture departments at universities,
colleges, technical and design schools who carry a professional
qualification to teach degree and diploma courses in interior design/interior
architecture and are currently employed in that position.
Professional Members in good standing shall have full voting rights,
the right to carry a membership card bearing the title Professional
Member HKIDA, and to use the abbreviation "HKIDA (Professional)"
after their names.

Annual fees are due on the 1st of January each year.
A resolution is passed on the Executive Committee meeting (December
2004) that the Joining Fee & Annual Membership Fee (Professional
& Ordinary Members) are upgraded to HK$1,500.00 each year.
