CLASSIFICATION OF MEMBERSHIP
There shall be seven classes of membership: Professional Members, Ordinary Members, Corporate Members, Affiliate Personal Members, Affiliate Corporate Members, Graduate Members and Student Members.
Professional Member
Professional Members must be holders of Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card together with any one of the following qualifications:
- Degree/Undergraduate degree in interior design/interior architecture/architecture recognized by the Association, plus two years of practical professional experience in interior design/interior architecture, or
- Diploma or equivalent in interior design/interior architecture recognized by the Association, plus three years of practical professional experience in interior design/interior architecture, or
- Certification or equivalent in interior design/interior architecture recognized by the Association, plus four years of practical professional experience in interior design/interior architecture, or
- 10 Years of practical professional experience in interior design/interior architecture.
In exceptional circumstances, other criteria may apply provided such individual can show proper evidence of the highest degree of knowledge and professionalism.
This category may also include individuals who are educators in interior design/interior architecture/architecture departments at universities, colleges, technical and design schools , and they possess professional qualification s to teach degree and diploma courses in interior design/interior architecture/architecture and are currently employed in that position.
Professional Members in good standing shall have full voting rights at General Meeting s . Professional Members will receive HKIDA membership certificate s and shall have th e right to use the abbreviation "HKIDA (Professional)" after their names.
Ordinary Member
Ordinary Members must be holders of Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card and are persons practicing interior design/interior architecture but do not qualify as Professional Members.
Ordinary Members in good standing shall have full voting rights at General Meetings. Ordinary Members shall have the right to use the abbreviation "HKIDA (Ordinary)" after their names.
Corporate Member
Corporate Members shall be corporations or firms carrying on an interior design practice in Hong Kong. A Corporate Member may nominate and register up to two nominees to participate in the Association’s activities. Nominees should possess the qualifications as a Professional Member.
Corporate Members have no voting rights at General Meetings and may not be elected to any office of the Association. Corporate Members will receive HKIDA membership certificates and shall have the right to use the abbreviation "HKIDA (Corporate)" after their names.
Affiliate Personal Member
Affiliate Personal Members may be, but is not limited to interior designers, suppliers, contractors and persons engaged in other works related to interior design.
Affiliate Personal Members have no voting rights at General Meetings and may not be elected to any office of the Association. Affiliate Personal Members shall have the right to use the abbreviation "HKIDA (Affiliate Personal)" after their names.
Affiliate Corporate Member
Affiliate Corporate Members shall be corporations or firms carrying business of interior design, suppliers, contractors and any other business related to interior design. An Affiliate Corporate Member may nominate and register up to two nominees to participate in the Association's activities.
Affiliate Corporate Members have no voting rights at General Meetings and may not be elected to any office of the Association. Affiliate Corporate Members shall have the right to use the abbreviation "HKIDA (Affiliate Corporate)" after their names.
Graduate Member
Graduate Members shall be persons who are graduates from a recognized institution with a major in interior design/interior architecture.
Graduate Members should apply to renew their membership before 31st December of each calendar year. Otherwise, their membership as a Graduate Member shall automatically expire and their names will be removed from the members register.
Graduate Members have no voting rights at General Meetings. Graduate Members shall have the right to use the abbreviation "HKIDA (Graduate)" after their names.
Student Member
Student Members shall be persons who are registered students in Hong Kong, studying full time in a recognized institution with a major in interior design/interior architecture.
Membership as a Student Member shall automatically expire upon their graduation and their names will be removed from the members register.
Student Members have no voting rights at General Meetings. Student Members shall have the right to use the abbreviation "HKIDA (Student)" after their names.

The Entry Fee is a one-off payment and not applicable to those upgrading their membership
- Payment is not due until you are elected to membership
- Membership fees are counted on an annual basis, and our financial year runs from 1st Jan to 31st Dec.
